What was the last major transformation you went through?

Posted on Jun 23rd, 2008 by barefootgirl42 : Blissful Energy barefootgirl42
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 23, 2008:

Along with transforming into a completely different person when I acted in Shakespeare's Measure for Measure last month, (which was quite a feat since my character and I are COMPLETELY different) my biggest (off-stage) transformation in my recent past has been deciding to get a degree in Human Rights/ Social Justice Law. True to the Gaian sprit, I knew what I do must positively impact the world, so I finally realized that I want to attend law school which will help me make the change I wish to see in the world. My grades are very high, I have a lot of relevant extracurricular activities, and as long as I study hard and ace the LSATs I'll have a decent chance at attending a good law school. (And honestly, I really want to get into Harvard, but we'll see if I can do that. It's definitely possible if I ace those LSATs...)

I am SO incredibly excited. It's so relaxing and liberating to know exactly what I want to do, and I'm so grateful that has finally happened.

After law school I want to work for a human rights organization (like the Human Rights Campaign or Amnesty International) to work to protect every human being's natural rights. This is incredibly important to me, and I can't wait to start. :)

As I know you all know, there is so much injustice and discrimination happening to so many marginalized people based on their race, sexual orientation, gender identity, class, country of origin, citizenship status, dis/ability status and more, but after I attend law school I'll have more tools to ensure that these individuals' rights are protected. :) After law school,  I'll be a human rights activist with a law degree making change wherever I can. ...While also doing theatre on the side. :) It seems like just the right plan to me, and I can't wait to begin.

Have a transformational day, and take care,
Jenna

jenna - the aforementioned ideas/goals that you bring up seem to run almost parallel to mine. i aspire to go to law school and to eventually fight for global human rights. I hope that you achieve your goals, they are very admirable!

Leigh,
Really? Sweet! :) When are you applying, and where do you hope to go? I'm going into my 5th year undergrad at UC Davis right now, and then I might take a year off, and then do law school in 2010. Hopefully I'll see you in class… :)

Leigh,
If you still have a couple years to go, our law school paths might meet. We'll see. Are you a junior in high school or college? (I tried finding that out from your profile, but it's so bare right now!) And as far as law schools go, I'm hoping for maybe UC Davis, or even Harvard and Stanford. Hopefully my LSAT scores will be decent enough for that. Heh, we'll see. :)

Helen,
You, my friend, are an absolute sweetheart. Thank you for all of your support and gratitude! I sure hope I can do this, we'll see how the LSATs go…  :)

I wish you all have a restful night and a fantastic day tomorrow.

Take care,
Jenna
